CHAPTER 7: DESIGN TWEAKS

I´ve done a few tweaks to the deisgn as noted in the previous chapter. The first thing I modified was the film holder. I added a screen in fonrt of the film that will keep it from bulging outwards when inserted in the camera, this also makes it easier to actually load the film cartridge in the camera back. The hole in this screen also sets the definite size of the image on the negative, I want the hole to be slightly smaller than the negative which creates a nice un exposed border around the pictures.

I also added the filter slot on the front peice. I continued working with the curves and this solution make the whole front look even more elegant than before. The filter is just a flat peice of glass or plastic.

I´ve also done some thinking on the shutter mechanism and how I´m going to get that to work as good as possible. I want to be able to trigger it without touching the camera and the best way of doing it is of course via a trigger such as the one below that are used with view cameras. I still have one provlem, or maybe two. I´ve done a mockup of the shutter mechanism and I´ve estimated that I need about 30mm of movement on the disc that moves the blades (similar to the aperture), but the trigger I´ve bought only gives me about 19mm of movement (more movement is not needed on "real" view cameras), I will need to solve this with some mechanichal means withing the shutter mechanism. My second problem might be to actually mount this trigger to my cardboard construction, but I consider that to be a very small one.
